York Guildhall Orchestra
Our final concert in this season will see us welcome a new soloist for the orchestra and for York, Annemarie Federle was a brass winner and finalist in the 2020 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition; she is currently principal horn for the amazing Aurora Orchestra and was recently appointed principal horn for the London Philharmonic Orchestra. It will be a privilege for us to hear her play the wonderful Strauss concerto - which he wrote for his dad!
By way of introduction to the Strauss, we have the beautiful prelude to Hansel & Gretel by Humperdinck, followed by the rarely performed Bavarian Dances by Sir Edward Elgar.
For the second half, it will be a delight to perform one of Dvorák's other symphonies (other than the one that always gets played!); his seventh symphony is another example of what a superlative tunesmith he was, full of wonderful tunes and rhythms. A joyous conclusion to the season.
Please note that this is a Sunday matinee.
