York Guildhall Orchestra
Our second concert in the Barbican this season sees the return of Leeds Festival Chorus. They will perform in the first and last pieces - the Parry, and the mighty Mendelssohn oratorio, his setting of a poem by Goethe, with the choir joined by three wonderful soloists from the RNCM. The Mendelssohn oratorio may not be that well known but it is a superb work that puts all the performers on their mettle! Elgar makes an appearance in all three concerts this season, this time with a favourite orchestral showpiece, the 'Enigma Variations'.
Please note that this is a Sunday matinee.
Programme:
- Parry - Blest Pair of Sirens
- Elgar - Variations on an Original Theme (Enigma)
- Mendelssohn - Die erste Walpurgisnacht
Vocal soloists – From the Royal Northern College of Music
