York Guildhall Orchestra returns to York Barbican for their upcoming 2019/2020 season with a brand new series of concerts celebrating their 40th Anniversary! Known as one of the finest orchestral ensembles in North England, the season features even more world-class musicians and show-stopping showpieces.

Violinist Nicholas Wright will be the soloist in the Prokofiev violin concerto and the autobiographical work by Richard Strauss, “A hero’s life”. The Orchestra will also conclude their extended journey through the symphonic works of Jean Sibelius.
York Guildhall Orchestra’s New Year’s Concert returns featuring Tuba player Brian Kingsley (Opera North), performing some popular favourites alongside members of the wonderful Jean Harlow School of Dance.
Almost 40 years to the day since they were first founded by John Hastie, York Guildhall Orchestra will perform one of the first pieces that the Orchestra ever played, as well as welcoming the internationally renowned ‘cellist, Jamie Walton.
The season comes to a rip-roaring conclusion with the accomplished pianist Martin Roscoe as the Orchestra lets their hair down in an exciting close to their celebratory season.
