The singer-songwriter releases his upcoming album, ‘Unfollow the Rules’, this July before a return to York Barbican on 27 October 2020.
Ahead of being the first guest for the Royal Albert Hall’s special isolation sessions, the critically acclaimed Rufus Wainwright has announced a run of UK dates this winter, including a show at York Barbican this October.
Known for his incredibly engaging live performances, Rufus returns to the UK with a brand new band for the tour, featuring LA musician Brian Green, who has previously worked with John Legend, and Rachel Eckroth who has collaborated with KT Tunstall.
The tour will feature a setlist of classics and new cuts from his highly anticipated new pop album, which releases on BMG on 10 July 2020.
Rufus Wainwright’s ninth studio LP and first new album since 2012, finds the artist at the peak of his powers, entering artistic maturity with passion, honesty, and a new-found fearlessness while remaining as creative, bold, and mischievous as ever.
Speaking of the tour Rufus said, “I consider Unfollow the Rules my first fully mature album; it is like a bookend to the beginning of my career. “
He continues, “For me, thinking about this tour is like a light at the end of this dark tunnel that we are all in together. It gives me hope and confidence that we will rise above this collectively.”
“And while it might seem that we are not moving forward swiftly in this dark long tunnel, I know that we will reach the light again and be able to be together. I cannot wait to be part of that moment for my fans and share this music live with them.”
